Additional information: Robert was the son of Daniel Kelly and Maggie O’Neil of Havelock. He died at aged 20 during the sinking of the HMHS Llandovery Castle, Canada’s deadliest naval disaster. The incident became infamous internationally and was considered, after the Armenian genocide, as one of the war’s worst atrocities. The case of Llandovery Castle was one of six alleged German war crimes prosecuted at the Leipzig trials in 1921.
