Additional information: Maxwell Coones enlisted in 1943 and became an air gunner onboard Halifax bombers. On March 5, 1945 Halifax NP793 left to bomb Chemnitz. Icing conditions brought down the bomber into a farmer’s field and there were no surviving of the seven crew. Maxwell was 20 years old. His CWGC headstone has the personal inscription “he who dared the trackless sky, has found a faith more strong and sure”.
